Penny Ann Early works with the racehorse Piece-By-Piece at the Doug Davis stable at Oaklawn Jockey Club in Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas. Early, who is from Chicago, Cook County, Illinois is learning to be a trainer of bangtails, which is slang for racehorses. As part of her training she grooms the horses, cleans their stalls, and rides them after a workout to cool them down.
